Working with the community to bring young people together.

Our Commitment

North Smethwick Development Trust (NSDT) wants to work with our community to bring young people together through meaningful and fun activities which promote good mental health, provides a greater understanding and respect of people of different ages heritage within our diverse community and to develop their own personal aspirational plan and help them to reach their goals.

  • Directly support young people to develop their social, emotional and spiritual skills and build their confidence by providing programmes of activities, services and facilities at Brasshouse Community Centre.
  • Ensure that young people actively participate and that their ideas contribute fully in the planning, delivery and evaluation of sessions, projects and activities.
  • To devise, plan, directly deliver and co-ordinate a team of staff and volunteers to deliver a high-quality youth programme that is safe, innovative, challenging and responds positively to the diverse needs, concerns and interests of our community.
  • To develop and facilitate educational workshops for and with young people.

What's on at the Centre for Children & Young People

Join up to our Holiday Activities & Food (HAF) Summer Camp at Brasshouse

Join our experienced play team and take part in our Brasshouse Summer Fun Camp.  We offer a universal primary (5–11), and SEND inclusive (non complex needs).

Our provision offers an exciting, fun-filled experience for children designed to keep them active, engaged, and creative during the holidays. Each week features a variety of themed and free to choose activities including sports, arts and crafts, water safety activities, STEM and team games alongside indoor and outdoor play opportunities. There will be some off site trips alongside our carefully planned schedule to ensure that every child can explore new interests while building confidence and making new friends in a safe, welcoming environment.

For our SEND children, we aim to keep activities flexible and, adaptable. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer spaces to  children with Complex Needs,  one to one support or personal care. However, if we find that we are not able to make the reasonable adjustments necessary, we will support the family to find alternative suitable provision through the HAF Team.

Bookings for the Sandwell Holiday Activities & Food (HAF) programme are now open!
  • Families with children receiving benefit-related free school meals will have received an email or text with their voucher codes and booking links
  • A fantastic range of free holiday activities and nutritious meals is available across Sandwell
  • More providers and sessions are continually being added, so keep checking for new opportunities!
  • Places can fill up quickly, so we encourage families to book as soon as possible to secure their preferred sessions.
  • If you haven’t received your HAF codes, please contact the Sandwell HAF team directly at haf_sandwell@sandwell.gov.uk
