On Wednesday’s we provide free community meals with our partner Fare Share UK It’s a busy day and we are in need of a friendly pair of hands to help us out in our kitchen. It’s a great chance to boost your CV as you will be trained in food & hygiene and get the chance to cater to large groups of people. If you would like to find out more then you can telephone the kitchen directly: 07549 070 594 during office hours or call 0121 555 5672.
We are one of the charities that collect supermarkets’ surplus food from Fare Share. We then turn this food that would have otherwise gone to waste, into a delicious warm, free meal for those in the community that are in need. Volunteer Drivers help us collect the food on Wednesday morning from FareShare’s warehouse in Nechells, driving our delivery van. This is an ideal opportunity for those who do not have much time in their hand to volunteer, but want to be part of making a big difference to vulnerable people. Drivers need to be over 25 and hold a full clean UK driving license.
With such a large invested interest within the local community it is difficult to communicate effectively with everyone. Social Media Assistants will work as a team to create content for NSDT website and social media accounts, helping us market our projects and services widely.
Community Support Volunteers help us engage with the community in number of different ways. You could be translating our leaflets into community languages, or do some informal interpreting for people who would like to attend our activities and services but who have little or no English. As a Community Support Volunteer, you could be helping us run some focus groups with the community, or come along to our regular activities such as the Baby/Toddler group to engage with the community members. Community Support Volunteers play a vital role in helping us to ensure that the activities and services we provide reflect the needs of the community and are inclusive taking into account specific cultural considerations.
Do you love to garden or spend time outdoors?

Community garden volunteers will meet regularly and will be supported by a qualified horticulturalist.
This role is suited to people who want to share their skills and donate their time to benefit the community, but who might be unable to commit to long-term volunteering or volunteering during normal office hours. Events Volunteers help us plan and run our regular events throughout the year including Community Open Days, Art Exhibition Launch Nights, Music and Theatre Productions.
